Kelvin Blowe

Policy and Advocacy Associate

Kelvin Blowe is a Policy and Advocacy Associate at DC Justice Lab and a Peer Navigator at the National Reentry Network for Returning Citizens.

Prior to DC Justice Lab, he served four years active duty in the United States Marine Corps, including tours to Afghanistan and Jordan.

Upon his return to the District from active duty, Kelvin struggled with PTSD and eventually served a 66-month sentence of incarceration. After experiencing the limited opportunities available and challenges faced by returning citizens, Kelvin decided to leverage his personal experiences to make a difference for people impacted by the criminal justice system.

He is passionate about breaking down barriers and tackling the prejudices and discrmination faced by returning citizens, and helping people impacted by the criminal justice system enter the workforce again.

In his free time, Kelvin is an entrepreneur and is building his trucking and transportation business, Blowe Trucking and Transportation Services LLC. Through his start-up, Kelvin is hiring returning citizens as drivers and arranging transportation for families to visit loved ones who are serving sentences. He most recently participated in the We Aspire Pitch Competition hosted by the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development.
