Kenya Whitaker

DC Justice Fellow

Kenya is a native of the DMV area, growing up in Prince George’s County, MD. As a recent law school graduate, Kenya has experience that ranges from representing housing cooperatives and helping small nonprofits start up to advocating on the behalf of an elderly man seeking parole. Kenya’s passion as a movement lawyer involves creating policies that promote gender justice and improves the safety and wellbeing of the Black and Brown community. Prior to attending law school, Kenya was an Academic Coach for a private tutoring company that worked with DC Public and Charter Schools by providing tips on improving scores on standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT.

Kenya has a B.A. in Political Science from Trinity Washington University, summa cum laude, and a J.D. from UDC Law, summa cum laude. Kenya is the 2023 recipient of the CLEA’s Outstanding Student Clinic Award and UDC Law’s Dean’s Cup Award for Scholarship. Kenya is a member of the D.C. Bar.
